On January 31, 2024, the annual exchange meeting of the National Grid Corporation of China (State Grid) - Chongqing University Joint Research Center was held at Chongqing University. Yao Jianguo, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the National Grid Corporation of China, Li Meng, Director of the Achievement Department, and Zhao Bing, Deputy Director of the System Institute of the China Electric Power Research Institute, attended the annual meeting. Li Jian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Chongqing University, also attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yao Jianguo, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the National Grid Corporation of China.

Li Jian welcomed Yao Jianguo and his delegation to the school and expressed gratitude for the strong support of the National Grid Corporation of China to Chongqing University. He pointed out that since the establishment of the National Grid Corporation of China - Chongqing University Joint Research Center two years ago, it has always focused on major common issues in the national energy field, combined the advantages of both parties, strengthened applied basic and strategic research, achieved significant breakthroughs in cutting-edge and disruptive technologies in China's energy transition process, produced high-quality results, and promoted the sustainable development of research in China's power grid field. He hoped that in the future, both sides could deepen cooperation in national-level platform construction, interdisciplinary collaboration, achievement transformation, and key equipment, as well as advanced materials manufacturing, aiming to further enhance the effectiveness of cooperation.

At the meeting, Xie Kaigui, the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University, reported on the work of the Joint Research Center for the year 2023, focusing on the establishment of technology projects at the headquarters of the National Grid Corporation, joint application for scientific and technological achievements with various subsidiaries of the National Grid Corporation, joint talent training, and cooperative achievements. He presented the work plan for the advancement of technical directions for the year 2024, combining the advantages and characteristics of both parties, focusing on areas such as high-voltage insulation and disaster prevention, safety and reliability of power equipment and systems, and safety and stability control of the Chongqing power grid.

Yao Jianguo commended the achievements made by the Joint Research Center since its establishment and expressed his hope for continued collaboration between the two parties to advance organized scientific research. He emphasized the need to actively plan major research projects, jointly apply for national major special science and technology projects, and National Grid Corporation headquarters technology projects, as well as to plan and discuss cooperation in applying for provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards, and to promote the construction of national-level platforms.

Li Meng stated that the Joint Research Center should continue to advance major project breakthroughs, clarifying the roles of "who proposes questions, who evaluates answers, and who responds to questions"; intensify efforts in transforming achievements, specifying the form of achievement output and the mode of achievement transformation from the initial stage of project initiation; and enhance the training of high-level scientific and technological talents, further strengthening personnel exchanges and cooperation.

Zhao Bing introduced the open sharing status of the electromagnetic transient simulation system at the China Electric Power Research Institute.

Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the subsequent organizational management of the joint research center and further scientific cooperation between the two parties.

Key figures such as You Buxin, Assistant General Manager of State Grid Chongqing Power Company, Li Wenjiang, Director of the Science and Technology Department, Huang Lin, Dean of the Power Science Research Institute, along with Hu Jianlin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University, Xie Kaigui, the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University, Jiang Xingliang, Director of the Xuefengshan National Field Scientific Observation Station, and some representatives of teachers participated in the exchange meeting.

Before the exchange meeting, Yao Jianguo and his delegation from State Grid Corporation of China visited the State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment Technology at Chongqing University.
