National Experimental Teaching Exemplary Center of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Organized Research Activities for Middle School Students

On March 6th, 2022, a series of research activities for middle school students were organized by the National Experimental Teaching Exemplary Center of Electrical and Electronics, Chongqing University, and officially launched on Huxi Campus. This activity aimed to train students to discover, to ask questions, to work in teams, and to correctly solve practical problems; meanwhile, this activity provided middle school students with an opportunity to experience university life so that they can better understand the disciplines in advance and feel the learning atmosphere of the university.

At 9:00 a.m., a brief opening ceremony was held at DS1206, the first Experimental Building on Huxi Campus. Professor Hu Jianlin, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Professor Hou Shiying, Director of the National Experimental Teaching Exemplary Center of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Wang Pengfei, Director of the Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of the Youth League Committee, Sun Tao, Director of the Laboratory of the Department of New Technologies of the School of Electrical Engineering and the instructors of the practical project of “Design of Intelligent Security Control System” attended the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Hou Shiying expressed a warm welcome to students from different middle schools for their active participation. She introduced the basic situation of the center and encouraged the students to bravely attempt and fully communicate with instructors. It is hoped that the students can cherish this valuable opportunity and learn a lot from the research activities.

In the afternoon, students participated in a project themed “Design of Intelligent Security Control System”. This project took the security control system as a starting point, disassembled the complex security system, and expanded it into an intelligent security control system combined with artificial intelligence technology. During the activity, under the patient guidance of the instructors, the students gradually mastered basic skills of graphical programming and the rules of external hardware links, and accumulated knowledge about the design and production of intelligent security control systems.

This activity gave students an opportunity to understand the characteristics of the discipline. It is hoped that they will continue to strengthen their learning in future study life, improving their enthusiasm for practice and comprehensively enhancing their personal abilities.
